A Healthy Skin
A healthy skin demands regular care. It is very important to maintain a daily skin routine to achieve healthy looking skin.
Skin
on face is particularly delicate than other areas of the body. It
requires gentle products which not only thoroughly cleanse the skin of
dirt and grime but also are much easy-going on it.
This is why we have several products in the market especially made
for facial skin. Most common steps in a face care routine are that of
Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising. But there are just a few more steps
to supplement these three steps to get youthful and radiant skin.
Step 1 : Wash Your Hands
Before touching
your face, with bare hands or with products in it, it is very important
to have clean hands. Even if you feel that you are going to use a face
wash and will be washing your face anyways, it is always better to clean
your hands first of the dirt and grime before touching your facial
skin.
Step 2 : Cleanse your Face
Using a
Cleansing milk first helps to remove makeup, dirt and extra sebum which
has clogged the pores. Then it is time for a face wash which along with
remaining impurities also cleans away traces of the cleansing milk and
leaves the skin thoroughly cleansed and the pores are free to breathe.
Step 3 : Scrub your Face
A
face scrub is an exfoliation product which has been designed
specifically for use on facial skin. Face scrubs work by removing dead
skin, leaving behind a layer of younger, healthier skin. Regular use of
an exfoliant can keep skin smooth and glowing, by constantly exposing
new skin. Face scrubs can also remove remnants of makeup which may not
have been totally cleaned earlier.
Step 4 : Tone your Face
A face toner is
meant to tone the face after it is cleansed. A toner helps to tighten
the pores slightly which were left all accessible after being cleansed
the by face wash. It helps in shrinking them with regular use and thus
helps in giving the skin a flawless and even finish. Another very
important function of a toner is to balance the pH of the facial skin.
The facial skin becomes basic after an alkaline face wash is applied
over it. Traces of it are always left even after it is washed off. This
basic or alkaline pH is great for the bacteria to thrive and cause acne.
A toner is acidic and when gently applied on the face is light wiping motions it helps remove traces of the facewash and turn the pH of skin back to acidic which is also supposed to be its natural state. So the acne causing bacteria are much less likely to thrive.
Step 5 : Apply a Face Serum
Face serums
are light, fast-absorbing liquids used as an alternative or in addition
to creams or lotions. They are usually applied on cleansed and toned
skin before application of a moisturiser. They contain highly
concentrated ingredients and differ from a moisturiser in their
composition. The biggest difference between a serum and a cream or
lotion is that serums leave out occlusive, or airtight, moisturizing
ingredients such as petrolatum or mineral oil that keep water from
evaporating. They also contain fewer lubricating and thickening agents,
like nut or seed oils. Most serums are water-based and eliminate the
oils altogether.
Step 6 : Moistuize your Face
Next
step is applying a moisturiser. a moisturiser is a cream or lotion or
gel with moisturising ingredients. It causes the skin to become supple
and hydrated. It contains emollients and creates a barrier between the
skin and external environment and has protective effect along with a
moisturising effect.
A
sunscreen is a lotion , spray or gel which helps the skin against
sunburn. It has special ingredients which absorb or reflect sunlight and
tus prevet skin from sun damage. SPF of a sunscreen is its sun
protection factor. The higher it is, the better. It is even advisable to
wear a sunscreen indoors to prevent the skin against darkening, ageing,
and wrinkling which are all attributable to sun damage.
