Hingham — Maxime Salon in Hingham recently hosted a seemingly “unorthodox” type of cancer event. It was NOT a fundraiser, it was more like a “friend” raiser…it was an evening of beauty, laughter, inspiration and compassion among those who share the bond of cancer. It was the first in a series of Cancer Workshops entitled, “Cancer Schmancer.” “The reason we decided to create this series of events was because six of our clients were diagnosed with cancer within two months of each other,” says Ronit Enos, Owner, Maxime Salon. “We felt we had to do something to help them, and since what we know is beauty, we created an evening where women could come and learn how to maintain their style, and in some cases, create a new style, so they can feel beautiful, even while undergoing treatment.” When Ronit and her staff first began brainstorming on what shape the workshops would take, they discussed everything from the “language of cancer” — what words are appropriate and ...
